Beverage Franchise India 2026: Cart vs Kiosk vs Café vs Events — Which Setup Is Right For You?
Share
Most franchise inquiries we get start the same way: “I want to start a beverage business but I don't know if I should begin with a cart or go straight to a café.”
There's no single right answer — it depends on your investment capacity, the location you have access to, and how hands-on you want to be. The Pratima Pre-Mix franchise model offers four distinct setup options, from a ₹25,000 mobile cart to a ₹5,00,000 full-brand outlet. This guide breaks down which one fits which kind of operator.
The four setups at a glance
| Setup | Investment from | Monthly profit potential | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thandai Cart | ₹24,999 | ₹60,000–₹75,000 | First-time operators, high-footfall streets, seasonal entry |
| Kiosk Outlet | ₹49,999 | ₹75,000–₹1,00,000 | Malls, food courts, high streets — indoor compact setups |
| Events & Catering | ₹59,999 | Variable, high per-event | Weddings, corporate, party catering operators |
| Thandai Café | ₹1,49,999 | ₹1,00,000–₹1,20,000+ | Cities, towns, busy commercial areas with seating |
| Maa Ke Hath Ki Chai (Full Brand) | ₹5,00,000 | ₹1,00,000–₹1,20,000+ | Operators ready for a full branded outlet experience |
1. Thandai Cart — ₹24,999
What it is: A portable folding-table setup with branded banners, two rechargeable blenders, 150 thandai packets (30 per flavour), serving utensils, and 200 disposable cups. You can wheel or carry it.
Best for: A first-time entrepreneur with limited capital. Anyone with access to a high-footfall pavement location — outside a school, college gate, market street, weekly bazaar, or society events.
Daily reality: Solo operation. You arrive at 11 am, set up in 15 minutes, serve until 8 pm. 50–100 glasses on a normal day, 150+ on weekend / festival days.
Off-season plan: Switch the cart from thandai to tea pre-mix in monsoon and winter. Same setup, different inventory.
Skip this if: You don't want to be physically present at the cart every day, or you want a fixed indoor location.
2. Kiosk Outlet — ₹49,999
What it is: A compact branded kiosk built for indoor or covered outdoor spots — typically 8–12 sq ft. Has a permanent counter, branded signage, and an integrated cold-storage point for milk.
Best for: Operators with access to a small commercial space in a mall food court, large office complex, high-street shopping zone, or food district.
Daily reality: Can be run by one person or one + one helper. Steady, predictable footfall. Higher average ticket size than a cart because customers are already in spending mode (mall visitor vs street walker).
Daily volumes: 80–150 glasses + 30–60 retail packets sold across the day. Mixed glass-and-packet revenue model.
Skip this if: You don't have a fixed indoor location lined up, or you're not ready to commit to monthly rent.
3. Events & Catering — ₹59,999
What it is: A premium portable setup designed for high-margin event work. Larger inventory load, premium glassware, branded backdrop. You book the event, you supply.
Best for: Operators with an existing network in the wedding/event/corporate space — caterers, event planners, college committees. Or anyone willing to actively prospect for bulk orders.
Per-event profit: Bulk orders make the math very different. A 200-glass corporate office order at ₹70/glass = ₹14,000 revenue. Margin on a single event often equals a cart's weekly profit.
Off-season: Wedding season runs Nov–Feb in most of north/west India, so this works opposite to the thandai cart's summer peak.
Skip this if: You don't want sales/networking to be the core skill of the business. You need to actively pitch events.
4. Thandai Café — ₹1,49,999
What it is: A sit-down café with branded interiors, seating, full Pratima menu (thandai + tea + coffee + retail packets), and chairs/tables for in-store customers.
Best for: Operators with capital who want a fixed brand experience, not a service-only model. Best in mid-tier cities and commercial neighbourhoods where café culture is growing.
Daily reality: Needs 1–2 staff members beyond the operator. Mixed revenue — thandai/tea/coffee glasses + retail packet sales + occasional event catering.
Revenue mix: 60% glass beverages, 25% retail packets, 15% snacks/event work.
5. Maa Ke Hath Ki Chai — ₹5,00,000 full brand outlet
What it is: The complete Pratima brand outlet experience. Premium interior design, full signage, complete equipment package, initial stock, training, and end-to-end business support. This is the model we operate at our Gota, Ahmedabad flagship.
Best for: Investors looking for a premium, scalable, long-term brand outlet. Often a multi-outlet investor's entry point. Comes with exclusive territory rights for your zone (no other Pratima franchise within the agreed radius).
Profit model: Three income streams — tea (high volume daily cash flow), thandai (seasonal mega-margin), packet sales (stable year-round). Combined: ₹1,20,000+ per month at maturity.
How to pick the right one
Use this short decision tree:
- How much capital can you put in today? ₹25K → Cart. ₹50K → Kiosk or Events. ₹1.5L → Café. ₹5L → Full Brand.
- Do you have a location locked in? No → Cart or Events. Yes (small) → Kiosk. Yes (large) → Café or Full Brand.
- Will you work the counter yourself daily? Yes → Cart / Kiosk. No → Café / Full Brand (with hired staff).
- Is this seasonal or year-round? Seasonal-first → Cart. Year-round → Kiosk / Café / Full Brand.
What's included across all options
Regardless of which setup you pick, every Pratima franchise package includes:
- Complete pre-mix supply at wholesale rates
- Marketing support — posters, banners, social media creatives
- Branding & menu design
- Training on product preparation and customer service
- Ongoing supply chain & stock support
- No royalty fees, no hidden charges — you keep 100% of your selling-price margins
The territorial rule
Pratima offers exclusive area franchise rights. Once a zone is taken, no other Pratima outlet opens within the agreed radius. This protects your customer base. It also means popular cities (Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot) are filling up — some pin codes are already exclusive.
